Some rooms ask you to explain yourself.
This one does not.
On October 17, the Ladies of Hope Ministries (The LOHM) is opening a space in Laurel, Maryland for an evening of fashion, dinner, storytelling and community.
A runway. A room full of people who came to look with admiration instead of judgment. A cast of models from across our community, ages 6 and up, walking in blazers they helped choose.
Come in your favorite blazer. Add a butterfly. However you show up, show up as yourself.
The Evening
The Mingle
Doors open. Conversation, connection and a room built to welcome you in.
Dinner
Dinner is served, and it is included with every ticket.
The Runway Story
Three chapters of testimony, fashion and becoming, hosted by Ayana.
The Reclamation
The live auction, awards and closing. The evening ends at 7:30.
Why Fashion
Clothing carries story. What we put on our bodies says who we believe we are, and choosing that for yourself is not a small thing. For many of the people walking this runway, this is the first time they are looked at without judgment.
This is more than a runway. It is reclamation in motion.

Public launch
Held & Heard
Youth Reentry Program
Blazers & Butterflies marks the public launch of Held & Heard, The LOHM's reentry program for young people ages 15 to 24 who are justice-impacted and impacted by domestic violence. It begins inside, with an eight to ten week healing-centered curriculum before release, and continues in the community afterward. Most systems address behavior. We address what sits underneath it.
- Trauma-informed emotional wellness support
- Mentorship, life skills and reentry navigation
- Storytelling and identity rebuilding
- Family connection and community reintegration
- Creative expression through fashion and the arts
- Evaluation, data tracking and program growth
