WHAT IS THE ISSUE?
Seventy million people in this country (1 in 3 adults) have criminal convictions and almost a third are women. Most of the women are in prison for non-violent crimes and were often victims of sexual abuse and childhood trauma. Nearly 44% of women impacted by incarceration are women of color and unemployed.

OUR PROGRAM
Is a commitment to employment
pathways for impacted women.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Every year, hundreds of thousands formerly incarcerated individuals reenter their communities with high hopes of making a fresh start. We know that employment is the foundation to secure safe and stable housing, and to receive health benefits and wellness services, which are essential for successful reentry. We also know that women being unemployed is disruptive to families and communities. In addition to addressing the system issues, we must also change the narrative about women who have been affected by incarceration and help them build new pathways to career opportunities.

THE PATHWAYS 4 EQUITY PROGRAM
CREATING NEW CONNECTIONS

The Pathways 4 Equity (P4E) Program is not a traditional job training and placement program. P4E is a 12-month career fellowship designed for women directly affected by the criminal legal system who are leaders with diverse experiences. The program consists of 3-months of personal and professional development training by the LOHM, as well as a 9-month paid position with an employer partner. The program goals are two-fold: To facilitate growth-focused career opportunities for women in the program and to connect employer partners with top talent while expanding diversity and inclusion practices.
What also sets us apart is our employer partner engagement and commitment. Key program elements include recruiting, coaching, and providing technical assistance to businesses who partner with the LOHM. This assistance includes advancing more expansive Diversity and Inclusion practices and providing guidance that enables employer partners to create true second chance opportunities. Through this collaboration, we work together to ensure that a criminal conviction NEVER defines a person and to establish new pathways that benefit all parties.
