(New York, N.Y.) –The Ladies of Hope Ministries (LOHM) announced today that it will supply hundreds of plant-based meals to frontline healthcare workers as part of its Angel Food Delivery Project program. It is in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced medical caregivers in New York City to work under unprecedented, strenuous circumstances.
In partnership with Borough President Eric Adams, Brooklyn-based vegan restaurant Greedi Kitchen and Sol Sips, The LOHM will distribute 200 plant-based meals to staff at Bellevue Hospital today. Last week on April 21, 2020, The Ladies of Hope Ministries provided 200 vegan meals to medical caregivers at the Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. These efforts were sponsored by Liberty Fashion and Lifestyle Fairs.
“We believe it’s critical at this time to do as much as possible to support medical professionals who are on the front lines of this crisis,” said Topeka Sam, Executive Director and Founder of The Ladies of Hope Ministries. “We’re pleased to be able to expand our Angel Food program to help.”
About The Ladies of Hope Ministries Angel Food Delivery Project
The Ladies of Hope Ministries Angel Food Delivery Project was launched in 2015 and aims to alleviate hardships for individuals and families impacted by incarceration by providing healthy groceries at no cost. The program addresses food insecurity in the city and encourages nutritious eating. Medical journals confirm that low-fat; plant-based diets boost the immune system and improve the ability of white bloods cells to fend off viruses.
