Scarlen Martinez

Scarlen is a social impact consultant who works sports adjacent. Scarlen supports teams, leagues, corporations, and individual athletes with their social impact initiatives and strategy. Additionally, she has created experiences at major sporting events to build bridges of understanding across different demographics. Scarlen also supports athletes who want to make an impact and connect with non-profit organizations that are doing important work across many social justice issues. For example, in partnership with the New York Liberty and their players, Scarlen worked on a campaign to raise awareness of gun violence prevention in NYC.

At WNBA All-Star, Scarlen collaborated with Pepsi and A'Ja Wilson to help disrupt negative narratives of women in sports and beyond. Recently, during the NFL Draft, Scarlen highlighted local organizations doing important youth programming in Detroit. Scarlen also consults corporations on how to best use their impact dollars within the sports community to ensure meaningful returns on their investments.

Scarlen has a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Spanish from Manhattan College and a Master's in Education Policy and Organizational Leadership from American University. She is a lifelong educator who is passionate about educating and empowering all communities. Scarlen grew up in the Dominican Republic and the South Bronx and strives to create access and opportunity in communities with the greatest need. She is a mother of a 16-year-old daughter and is passionate about gender equity and advancing women's issues.
